Bailamos
Got that Julio Iglesias song stuck in your head yet? You should be hearing flamenco music.
I started this one for my mom. I'm not sure whether she'll like the finished product because it'll be knife painted and based on what she's told me she seems to like my detailed stuff... so I may either revisit this painting in two ways, or I may just paint her something else. But I really want to finish this one with the knife.
Ah, foreshortening, curse you. I really do need to practice my drawing skills. I painted the background on this one, then roughed it on the canvas, and at that point 1) I loved her dress. 2) I hated her head and her arms. So THEN I went back and sketched her - just the parts that needed work. My next step will be to use white charcoal to kind of guide the changes I want to make to her head and arms so that she doesn't look like a Picasso (I love you, Picasso, but not what I am going for), then knife in the background, then work on the dancer.
So, this may or may not be for sale. If you adore it and you want it, send me an email..
